Primulas
Grows Best in: shade to part shade
Description:
Primulas make an excellent early season choice. Primula, primrose or cowslip, as they are called, are the early harbingers of spring and they work nicely with flowering bulbs. P. Polyanthus Group are hybrids crossed between various hardy primroses. Plants are low growing, 8 to 12 inches wide rosettes of leaves with a central cluster of showy flowers generally with yellow eyes. They bloom anytime it is warm enough and generally prefer part shade, but can handle lots of sun in cool months.
