Red Root Floater
Description:
Redroot floater (phyllanthus fluitans) has evolved from a desert plant to a water plant. Redroot floater does not grow in the substrate; it grows near the surface of the water. For this reason, the plant makes a suitable open aquarium specimen. Redroot floater spreads rapidly through runners that form plantlets. The runners require pinching off to prevent the plantlets from shading out submersed aquarium plants. The plant develops bright red leaves under intense light.
