Grows Best In:
Sun to Part Sun
Did you know that artichokes are from the thistle family? And they are delicious!
Artichokes are grown as annuals in our Okanagan climate. They require lots of soil nutrients, so provide organic fertilizer and a variety of compost if possible. Keep artichoke plants well watered, especially in hot, dry weather, and when the plant is flowering.
When your artichoke has developed into a large, firm, but still closed bud, cut the stem under the bud to harvest.
