Hello Happy Gardeners,
We hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. For those of you who have held off planting, there are still lots of options. We planted a later set of 14" mixed hanging baskets for sun, and they will be available in store when we open on Friday morning. As well, we have completed our evaluations of the 12" hanging basket Trailing Petunias for this season, and one of each variety will be available Friday Morning.
There is still plenty to choose from in-store as we continue to bring out the final plantings of vegetables and annuals, including Geraniums, Petunias, basket stuffers and more. Just a reminder that our scheduled closing date is June 20th this season, so still four more weeks to come in and get what you need!

14" Mixed Baskets for Sun

Beautiful blooming 14" mixed hanging baskets for sun are available in store! We planted a later set of our mid-sized baskets that are a bit smaller right now, but they are still packed with the same number of plants and will easily catch up to earlier plantings in the nice warm weather. These will all be available starting Friday morning.

Now that we have had the time to evaluate our Trailing Petunia Hanging Baskets that we grew this season, we will be releasing one of each variety that we held back. When we have each variety hanging together in the outdoors, we look for bloom power and colour consistency to avoid growing the varieties that have blooms that fade. We are also looking for consistent growth patterns to create our mixes for the following season.
There are 2 of each of our mixes from the season that we hold back to see how they perform, so we can make changes as needed. With the mixes, we look for compatible growth habits and complementary or contrasting colour grouping depending on the mix. We also look at the dates that each of these baskets sells out when determining our production for the next season. These Hanging Baskets will be available on Friday morning.

There is still a great selection of Canna Lilies, Purple Fountain Grass, Vertigo Fountain Grass, Cyperus (King Tut and Prince Tut) Elephant Ears, Red Leaf Maurelli Bananas and Basjoo Green Leaf Bananas.
The Australia, Tropicana Gold, Tropicana Black, the original Tropicana and the locally grown Black Knight Cannas all make great centrepieces, focal points or living screens. The Cannova series are looking good and offer a shorter option in both green and bronze foliage. You will find the entire Canna selection on table B20 and the adjacent wall benches.

Purple Fountain Grass is a versatile, easy-growing, annual clumping grass that stands out on its own or in a combination planting. The bronze-purple foliage is topped with beautiful, graceful, feathery plumes, with the colour intensifying in the late season. This heat-tolerant award winner can reach up to 3 feet tall, is listed as deer resistant and will not disappoint! You will find these on table N8.
