Store Hours for the Week of April 17 - April 23
Gotta' Collect 'Em All!
Even though the overnight temperatures could still dip down into the frost zone, we will still be bringing out the first planting of our collector tomatoes into location on Friday afternoon, with over 100 varieties.
'Juliet' Collector Tomatoes
Again this year we have divided the collection into three categories due to the ever increasing numbers of new varieties. Besides our general selection, we will have an Heirloom section, and a section of hanging tomato basket varieties, available in 2.5" pots for easy planting, all located on both sides of the aisle of A17 north. For hanging baskets, besides 'Tumbler', we found 'Sunset Falls' to be a vigorous heavy producer of bigger red and yellow striped grape tomatoes with really good flavour.
Newer Varieties for this season include:
- Golden Cherry (Labelled Husky Cherry Gold) -A cherry tomato variety from Veseys Seeds, that in last year's trials equalled or even beat Sweet Orange in flavour, a variety we thought was our best tasting tomato.
- Nectar - An ultra sweet, high in sugar but low in acid, cherry tomato that vigorously produces clusters of about 18-20 half ounce fruits.
- Orange Zinger - A dark orange larger cherry tomato with a well balanced sweet-tangy flavour. We had a huge production in our trials.
- Sugar Rush - Super sweet, elongated fruit with one of the highest Brix (sugar) ratings. Fast Maturing and very productive.
- Steakhouse - Extra large Beefsteak type, similar to Porterhouse.
- Sugar Gloss - A bright red cherry tomato with a very high sugar content. Fruits form on really long dual trusses, producing up to 40 tomatoes.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!

The Greenery Family
Bring Home the Tropics: Canna LiliesCanna Lilies add bold height and texture in flower beds and are a perfect centrepiece in large containers. They are also an excellent choice for ponds and other water gardens. All of our Canna Lilies can be found on table B1.
Some smaller varieties we grow from seed, include a star performer from the 2014 season: 'South Pacific Scarlet' and the Cannova series, including the new Cannova Bronze, which are available in 4.5" square pots for $3.99.
This new series was developed in the Netherlands, with the aim of producing varieties that could be used not only in subtropical and tropical climates where cannas originally evolved, but also in cooler summer climates. The Cannovas offer large green leaves, striking arrow-like buds and stunning flower displays in yellow, red and rose shades throughout the summer and into the fall.
Canna Lily 'Pretoria'
Canna Lily 'Australia'
Some specialty Canna varieties grown from bulbs, or tubers include: 'Lemon Punch', 'Orange Punch', 'Blushing Bride', 'Freckle Face', 'Australia', 'Ermine'- a rare white Canna Lily, 'African Sunset' and 'Pretoria'. These varieties are available in 5.5" square pots and range in price from $4.99 to $7.99 each. 'Australia' offers bold contrast with the vibrant red flowers on almost black, glossy foliage. 'Pretoria' has variegated leaves with yellow and green stripes topped with beautiful orange flowers above reddish coloured stems. 'Lemon Punch' and 'Orange Punch' are more compact varieties reaching up to 3 feet, while many others reach up to 5 feet tall.
After several requests, this season we were able to bring in some 'Black Knight' Canna Lilies, they are available in 1 gallon pots for $13.99. This is a stunning variety with deep red / burgundy / black foliage and shocking blood red blooms that reach 4 to 5 feet in height.
Also choose from the stunning 'Tropicanna', 'Tropicanna Black', or 'Tropicanna Gold', all available in 2 gallon pots for $17.99. The exotic foliage of the 'Tropicanna' emerges bright burgundy and matures to large leaves striped with red, pink, orange, and green.

Bloomin' BegoniasReturning this season are varieties of the more sun tolerant boliviensis type Begonias, such as 'Bonfire' and 'Santa Cruz' which are becoming more popular every year.

Begonia 'Sparks Will Fly'
'Bon Bon Cherry' Specialty Begonia
Assorted 3.5" Specialty Begonias
The Million Kisses series is back with varieties Amour, Devotion, Elegance, and Honeymoon. As well, other great varieties available are, the more compact 'Bon Bon Cherry', the floriferous 'Sparkle Scarlet', and the contrasting dark leafed 'Sparks Will Fly'.
If you haven't tried growing 'Dragon Wing' Begonias, be sure to add them to the list this season--they are almost indestructible! Look for our selection of Specialty Begonias on table A-2 South.
Many of these choices are also available in 12" hanging baskets as well, ranging in price from $25.99 to $32.99.
Vines That Bloom and Climb! The trend of growing unique plants in containers continues to grow, which is why we are pleased to have a complete set up (on table A10 North) of beautiful tropical and annual vines available for this weekend.
The most popular of these are Mandevilla vines, which are bold and showy, offering a display of trumpet shaped blooms and glossy, dark green, vining foliage. Red Velvet Mandevilla boasts large flowers whose colour is determined by the temperature- pink flowers with a red throat in cooler temperatures and deeper red flowers as temperatures increase.
Summer Romance Yellow Mandevilla is a new one this season, it is a vining type with dark glossy leaves and beautiful, large, deep yellow flowers. Also choose from Bush Red and Vining Red varieties, all available in 3.5" pots.
For another season we have good numbers of upright Bougainvillea plants available, in 6" and 5.5" square pots. This Vara series blooms early, is a more compact, bush type series and would be ideal for smaller containers, rather than hanging baskets.

|Landscape Coleus| Some plants make a colourful statement not with flowers, but with foliage! Our Landscape Coleus is a great example. This season we have a few new shades to add to our collection. Look for it on table N10 in 4" pots for $2.09.
