Greetings!

It's time for those veggies!

Mother's Day may be over, but mom's words still linger on: eat your veggies! Now with the warmer weather, there are many more vegetable crops that can be planted.  There is still a great selection of Tomatoes available, as well as other cool weather sensitive crops such as Peppers, Eggplant, Cucumbers, Squashes, Zucchini and Melons.

These can all be planted as long as you keep an eye out for night time temperatures.  In our own garden we have already seeded our beets, peas, corn, beans, and carrots, and planted corn and bean plants as well.

And YES! we are now eating our March lettuce!

12 inch Hanging Baskets of Sunpatiens
12" Hanging Baskets of Sunpatiens

There is still a good selection of hanging baskets to choose from, including Super-trailing Petunias, Calibrachoas, Fuchsias, Ivy Geraniums, and New Guinea Impatiens.  As well as huge 12" hanging baskets of Sunpatiens--Impatiens that can tolerate more sun than the regular Impatiens or New Guinea Impatiens!

The 14" Tidal Wave Petunia baskets are out for sale now in a variety of colours including silver, hot pink, purple and cherry.  They are hanging in selling section 'D' with the other super-trailing petunia baskets.  Tidal Wave Petunias are the biggest petunia series in the Wave family, they grow and grow into an awesome mass of flowers!

We will still be bringing out planters throughout the weekend, including some tower planters and trellis planters with Moonflower, Thunbergia (Black Eyed Susan Vine), Morning Glory, Passion Vine, Firecracker Vine, and Mandevilla.

Hens and Chicks

We have fully restocked the Sempervivum (Hens and Chicks) tables both  in selling section 'E' and in selling section 'G' out by our perennial display garden that is looking beautiful with all the spring blooms.  Sempervivum are a great addition to any rock garden or sunny garden bed.  They prefer well drained soil and plenty of heat and are extremely hardy- perfect for the sunny Okanagan!

Also perfect for our heat and sun are Echeveria--tender, succulent plants that
are excellent in a mixed bowl planter for the deck or patio- just remember to bring these in before the cold weather returns!

Got Deer Trouble?

Deer just love to nibble on the fresh, tender shoots in gardens, and we know there are plenty of deer here in our backyards!  We have seen proven results with a deer repellent(s) product: Bobbex.  Let us know if you have tried it, or have other advise or tips to try to keep your plantings safe from the deer and we will share your ideas with all our fellow gardeners!
